When looking foreward to college it’s hard not to think about what you did on the way. Kindergarten is still somewhere back there, with learning how to count, snack time, and that kid who always smelled a little funny? So is 1st grade, when you’re finally let onto the “real” playground. I’m speaking from Evergreen terms here so maybe it’s different elsewhere. There is one important thing that must be pointed out. “The MPR.”
Looking back on elementary school days, any one of them that had to do with the MPR was a good one. Hands down. Either there was an assembly, a talent show, rainy-day-schedule, or whatever, it didn’t matter. If the teacher says, “Okay, we’re going to head down to the MPR.” Boy you didn’t care if they were going to cut your little heads off, all you knew was that there are good things in there.
They always held the poety festival in there. Lord how I hated the poetry festival. “Mud, mud between my toes” was the only line I could remember reciting. Always being graded on hand gestures, you always feel a little stupid up there. Anyways, I was trying to get to that one kid. That ONE kid that goes over the top, screams, shouts, talks so fast you can’t even understand a damn word he says but he’s looking funny up there so you laugh. He always wins. There’s a girl version of this as well.
Then there was Oregon Trail. You’d have to buy crap along the way and sometimes you’d drown in that damn river. My school we always played them on those computer that only show green and yellow, ironically those two colors don’t really fit well when you have a green horse and a yellow buggy.
New versions included the color white and black.
Then came the recorder. My friend Chris could play the Yoshi Story theme on it, and I was eternally impressed. I still have mine, and my book that tried to show me how to play Pokemon songs on it – I never tried.
I’m sure there’s a ton more memories I’m forgetting right now. I will remember them soon. Goodnight.

I looked at the picture and wondered “what the hell is this.”
I was always more of an Amazon Trail man myself, ever since I got that free CD in the cereal.
